1st Black Owned Head Spa in Charleston, SC!

“Rooted In Culture. Crowned In Care.”

Geechee Rooted Head Spa is more than a wellness service — it’s a cultural experience and the first Black-owned head spa in Charleston, South Carolina. Rooted in the rich traditions of the Geechee Gullah people, our spa blends ancestral self-care practices with modern scalp and hair therapy to create a sanctuary unlike any other.

At Geechee Rooted, every treatment is designed to restore balance from the crown down. Through soothing water and steam therapy, invigorating scalp massage, and nourishing treatments, we honor both the physical health of your hair and the emotional well-being of your spirit. What makes us unique is our cultural foundation — we don’t just care for your scalp, we celebrate your roots, embracing diversity across all hair types, textures, and generations.

Charleston has never seen a head spa like this: a soulful, therapeutic space that combines beauty, wellness, and heritage. Geechee Rooted stands as a legacy of healing, representation, and cultural pride — inviting the community to relax, release, and restore while staying connected to the traditions that shaped the Lowcountry.

Her legacy anchors my journey and defines where my roots begin.

Diamond Rivers, a proud native of Johns Island, South Carolina, is the visionary founder and CEO of Geechee Rooted Head Spa. A descendant of the late Janie Hunter—lead singer of the renowned Moving Star Hall Singers, now honored at the International African American Museum in Charleston—Diamond’s roots run deep within the rich heritage of the Gullah Geechee culture.

Raised with humble beginnings, Diamond’s journey has been defined by perseverance, discipline, and a passion for service. Through hard work and dedication, she has successfully navigated multiple entrepreneurial paths while serving seven years in the U.S. Army and raising two beautiful children.

Her inspiration to establish Geechee Rooted Head Spa stems from a desire to honor her cultural heritage while bringing diversity, education, and inclusivity to the head spa industry. Diamond’s mission is to create a space where relaxation and restoration meet cultural pride and holistic care.

As a licensed nail technician and current cosmetology student at Charleston Cosmetology Institute, with an anticipated graduation date of November 2025, Diamond continues to expand her expertise. She provides services to clients of all ages, genders, and ethnicities—specializing in treatments for all hair types and textures.

With Geechee Rooted Head Spa, Diamond Rivers aims to redefine wellness through the lens of culture, beauty, and community—one scalp at a time.
